About Sight Words
What is Sight Words?
Sight words are common words that children learn to recognize instantly without sounding out. Many sight words don't follow regular phonics rules.

How to Help Your Child
Practice a few words at a time — flash cards work great. Say the word, spell it, say it again. Look for sight words in books you read together ('Can you find the word "the" on this page?'). Don't worry if some words take many repetitions — that's normal.
