"A math puzzle about probability would be much more impressive to the judges," Jordan argued. They went back and forth for three days, each refusing to budge. By Wednesday, they had a blank poster board and no plan. Other teams were already building their projects, and Alex and Jordan hadn't even agreed on a topic. Ms. Ramirez noticed they were falling behind and pulled them aside. "Good teams don't just compromise," she said. "They combine their strengths to create something neither person could make alone." That evening, Alex and Jordan sat down together at the library. Instead of arguing, they each made a list of what they were good at. Alex wrote: color, design, visual effects. Jordan wrote: patterns, calculations, geometry. As they looked at both lists, an idea started to form. Together, they created a project that neither could have built alone: a geometric sculpture that changed colors based on mathematical patterns. Jordan calculated the angles and proportions while Alex designed the color scheme and painted each piece. On the day of the fair, their project drew a crowd. The judges were impressed by how art and math worked together so beautifully. Alex and Jordan won second place, but more importantly, they learned that teamwork means using everyone's strengths. "I never thought math could be so colorful," Alex said with a grin. "And I never thought art could be so logical," Jordan replied.
